There are so many exciting things happing each day in Room 207! Log onto this page to learn about some of the wonderful things that are happening while each of us is learning.
We are currently learning all about communities in Social Studies. We have learned all about the 7 Continents, the 5 Oceans, The United States, New Hampshire and Seabrook. We will be testing on this unit in 2 weeks.
Upon completing our social studies unit on communities, we will be beginning our science unit on electricity, magnetism, heat and light and are moving on to what REALLY MATTERS!
The students did a great job during Unit 1 in math, which focused on place value, rounding, standard form, written form, expanded form, addition and subtraction. We completed the unit on Friday September 29th with an assessment! We are beginning Unit 2 in Math on Monday October 2nd. This unit will focus on multiplication and division. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take the time to practice multiplication facts with your student each night! A 21 Day Multiplication Challenge went home at Open House. This should begin on Monday October 2nd and be completed with a celebration on Thursday November, 2nd!
In reader's workshop, we are currently reading Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo! This is such a wonderful book that really allows us to read intensely and get to know why a character acts in certain ways. This is such a great unit because it allows for partner work and it is something that allows the students to bond while working together as a team in several different situations.
Please make sure to have your student complete their homework calendar for October. This is coming home on October 2nd and is due back on the last Friday of the month. Students can choose which assignments they want to complete on the days as long as all of the work comes back completed at the end of the month!
